Rich. Lusty. Hedonistic. These are some of the descriptors we often hear applied to our wines. However, we also hear the words elegant, balanced, complex. Yes, through hard work in the vineyard and winery, we believe you can have it all, the best of both worlds. Our approach to winemaking is simple, yet difficult. We prefer to intervene in nature’s process as little as possible but we will leave no stone unturned in our quest to maximize the quality of each wine we produce.

2006 Vintage

A schizophrenic year. A cold, wet spring delayed bud break by up to three weeks. Then textbook growing conditions for bloom and set. A record breaking heat wave in the latter half of July caused significant burn in some varieties, especially petite sirah. Afterwards, relatively benign weather, leading to a late start on September 22nd. Rain in early October led to some of the highest Botrytis pressure seen in the last 30 years. A beautiful latter half of October (65% of our fruit was picked between October 22nd and October 31st) saved the vintage. In the end, our finest set of wines to date.
