Located on the west side of the Laguna de Santa Rosa, this east-facing 1922 vineyard produces a very feminine, elegantly styled zinfandel. Almost pinot-like. But make no mistake about it, this is pure Carlisle. Cold soaked for 5 days prior to an indigenous fermentation, the wine was aged for 15 months in French oak, 25% new, before being bottled unfiltered.
Tasting Note: Medium to medium-dark brilliant ruby. Delicious aromas of red cherries, raspberries, freshly-tilled earth, and cream. Full-bodied and quite lush. Although drinkable now, teasing tannins on the finish suggest this wine will be best from 2007 through 2010. (MRO – 1/28/06)
