With so many components available, coming up with the final blend proved more challenging than usual. Surprisingly, in the end, the “kitchen sink” blend was our favorite, producing a zinfandel that rivals our vineyard designates in quality. We honestly believe that you would be hard pressed to find a better zinfandel for the money. If you do, please let us know! Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Note: Dark ruby-purple. Red fruits (raspberries, cherries, and plums) are mixed with suggestions of chocolate and loamy earth. On the palate, full bodied with a mouth-counting richness that belies the acidity and tannin. Optimum enjoyment should be between late 2008 and 2014. (MRO – 3/1/08)
