Don’t let the broader designation of “Sonoma County” fool you. This is a syrah of great pedigree! Using syrah from
Jemrose Vineyard in the Bennett Valley and
Rossi Ranch in Sonoma Valley, we found a little grenache and petite sirah completed the blend. Aged in all French oak, 22% new. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Note: Very dark ruby-purple. Verging on opaque. Concentrated aromas of blackberry, raw beef, and a touch of pepper exude from the glass. Full-bodied and concentrated but not at all oafish or “lazy” thanks to invigorating tannins and acidity. A terrific syrah at an even better price. Optimum drinking should be between 2011 and 2020.
